Arty farty friday

The local Festuge here in Århus has started today -and it´s my lucky day with both the opening of an exhibition by my favorite local artist, Søren Behncke and the opening of Avantgarden´s group exhibition involving these two talented ladies. Maybe I´ll see you there!

My friend is a co-owner of Hatch & Bloom - an idea and design agency here in Århus. This friday they are having a reception in their small art gallery. Open House & Hanami at our studio

In order to celebrate spring and the flowering apple trees outside our studio - we open the doors on the 17th of May. Inspired by the japanese hanami - which means enjoying the beauty of flowers - the studio will be open from 11-16 - so everyone can have a look at the appletrees outside and our work inside.

På ægte japansk Hanami-vis fejrer vi at æbletræerne blomstrer på Kærlighedsstien 7 i Århus. Derfor slår vi dørene op og holder åbent i vores atelier & designstudio. Søndag d. 17. maj 09. Kl. 11-16. Kig & Køb: Kunst, collager, postkort, grafik og smykker af Line Juhl Hansen + Spagat designstudio + Morell & Tudse.

Our studio have a fanpage at Facebook where you can get updates like this if you like. Please spread the word and bring your friends.

Photos from this weekend

We had a great group show with our GRiB 2.0 project this weekend. The opening this friday was very busy and everyone was very positive about the project and the final works. This year we also published a book with all the participants´ process - from their challenge to the final result - it´s in Danish - it looks great - and you can buy it here.

My "final work" was the pink moodboard above with my little superhero Super Sofie.
I went with this idea to show the universe of the target group and that the book isn´t finsihed yet. I also made a drawing of her for the children to color - and it was a big hit with the "target group" so I´m quite pleased and really looking forward to start working on my childrens book about Super Sofie.

I designed the poster this year - and Line´s colours are the background motive.

Have a great weekend.

Studio in January

Here´s what the studio looks like in January- our calender is slowly getting filled with new projects and places to go. There´s also been a constant flow of fresh flowers both here and in my home after I announced my marriage :) So nice!

And Line has left the building for the next days - and taken all her paintings with her to the Art Fair this weekend in Århus - so it feels very empty in the studio. But on my blog things are happening - for the first time in my 3 years of blogging I now have more Danish readers than international readers - thanks to a nice mentioning of my blog in the new issue og Boligliv. Thank you.

Velkommen til nye danske læsere - jeg håber I bliver hængende lidt, får lyst til at vende tilbage og opdager en vidunderlig og inspirerende verden via de mange links.

The Gift

Let me introduce you to the amazing glass-works by Karen Lise Krabbe. I went to the opening of her show, The Gift, this weekend, which is the first in a new STUDY series - organized by Glasmuseet in Ebeltoft. The titel The Gift refers both to her gratefulness for working with glass -but also to the way she has documented her working-process so carefully and specific that other glass-artist can use her experiments with different materials and continue from there...
I love the final result and the whole idea about sharing your knowledge - and I can highly recommend this exhibition that runs untill february. The top picture is of what the artist calls
" My 3D sketchbook" - it´s all the bits and pieces that didn´t make it through her critical process - but in my eyes they are all little treasures...

Our little Christmas Market

It´s been quiet on my blog which means that I´ve been busy IRL. Busy making posters and invitations for our little Christmas Market in our studio - and you´re more than welcome!
Busy making a studio blog - about what goes on in & outside our studio - you can read it in Danish here. And busy making a facebook group about the the same subject - which you can join here.

And busy designing logo´s and Christmas cards, and busy trying to develop my little design studio, busy cleaning after we had a new wall put up in the studio, busy decorating for Christmas at home since Nanna couldn´t wait any longer - and busy getting all my projects ready before the 17.th of december where we are off for a long and warm holiday in Malaysia and Thailand full of rest!

Visit to Aros

Today we finally got to visit our local art museum and to say hello to our painting! It´s was in great company and hung just opposite the Ferguson tractor made entirely from cardboard - so I´m sure it´s having a great time - while we miss it! Can you spot it?

There was a lot of cool stuff going on right now at Aros - and I really fell in love with the colours on this huge tiled floor... you should really go and have a look at it all yourself!
Sorry for spamming you if you read my blog through rrs-feeds - I´m still learning to post directly from my "new" mobile to my blog - and it´s not quite working yet...

My pink painting

My last post for Pink October - is about my favorite artist and my favorite painting by Søren Benhcke. I wrote about how much I wanted it here - 11 months ago - and then again here for Bloesem´s World Tour, saying "Inside my dinning room you will see this painting by Søren Benhcke, called Team Amour, from 2007, which I bought in the beginning of this year – it was love at first sight and I just had to own it eventhough I had never spend that much before on one single piece…"

Right now the painting is part of a solo-exhibition at our local art museum Aros - and if you live near Århus I highly recommend that you go and see his exhibition, CANDLE WITH HARE – in the West Gallery, 18. october – 07.december 2008.

Well right now the wall in our dinning room is a little bare - it´s amazing how much energy a painting can give to a room - and we all miss it. But I´m also extremely proud and happy to be able to share it with a larger audience. The painting means a lot to me on many levels -and I can only recommend to by art with your heart! - and share it. Also I wish to say that I bought it with my hard-earned money - not as an investment - simply because I had to own it. I also wish to say that our dinning room is only this clean and organized when a pro-photosession is beeing done...
Have a great weekend!

Anétmai collages

My friends from Anétmai are not only a talented graphic designduo - and members of our local Grib project - They have also entered a co-operation with the Danish Cancer Society in their fight against breast cancer this year.
”We were contacted by The Danish Cancer Society about a co-operation on the artistic level. This makes us feel very honoured as designers, for we are grateful if our works can contribute to drawing attention to breast cancer. That is why we agreed to design two works, which can function separately, but together as well,” explains the girls behind Anétmai
The pictures can only be bought at shop.anetmai.com, and only in the period 15th September till 15th December 2008. Each picture costs 695 Danish kroner, out of which Anétmai and co-operating partner Knud Høi will donate 300 per sold picture.

Crafts market in Aarhus

It´s time for another Crafts Market - this time in Århus at the charming
Kloster Torv on Saturday 23. august - from 10-15. I´m going there to pick up a cushion like the one to the left made by Tulipaner og Tomater. I´m not sure who else will be there, the pictures are from previous markets - but you can see more here.

My final superheroes

I finished my GRIB-challenge last friday - so here is my superhero - Super Sofie. I had a lot of fun putting together my inspirationboard above and creating this new character. The final artwork is presented as a bookcover as you can see - and a friend made a wonderful rhyme for the cover based on my ideas. So all I need now is to work on the stories, the illustrations and find a publisher...as if I didn´t have enough project going on already... but first of all I need some rest and a holiday.

Superhero process in progress

I hoped this fairy would wave her magic wand over me this weekend - so I could draw exactly what was in my head - I draw way too little these days and I´m a bit rough around the edges - but here are some sketches for my little super hero - Super Soffie!

Cool Girl Inspiration

Here´s my mood board for the Super Girl I´m about to create for the Grib.2 challenge. The target group is girls from 4-6 years and so far she is strong like Pippi - saves the world like Barbapapa - and is as cool as Lauren Childs figures - and she can see colours not visible to the human eye. The world needs a new and fresh superhero - so dear readers please leave a comment and tell me what qualities, superpowers and gadgets my little hero should have!

2xblogger

Last years Grib!-project was a big success - so we decided to enlarge the group, get a bit more organized and just continue to have fun and network in the same way. So from today and 2 weeks forward I´ll be blogging in Danish about my creative process at the GRIB!2 blog. My challenge this year is Superheroes - and I´ve already done some research as you can tell above - I would really love to create a new Pippi-figure - but I can´t draw cartoons or charaters - so we will see how I get along.
You can read more about Grib! here - and see the final show here.

Afternoon in Aarhus

My post about Aarhus is featured on Bloesems World Tour today - so Friday afternoon I took some snapshots on the way home from my studio to our flat - to give you a little glimpse of "the Latin Quarter" which is my beloved neighborhood. Enjoy - and welcome to my blog and my city.
