Our studio and homes are featured in the March 2010 issue of the Danish magazine Boligliv – We hope you´ll enjoy it – and will feel welcome inside our studio and homes. And yes off course it´s always so tidy!

How many pillows...?

I´m going to Formland tomorrow to catch up on the latest trends in home accessories, design and gifts. I know for a fact that after a whole day spent there I´ll be overloaded with impressions and also the thought of "how many pillows does the world actually need??" But then again -pillows are such a great and cheap way to refresh a room - and I´m already in love with these darlings above designed by the Norvegian design duo Darling Clementine for Ferm Living.

Old car repair shop - New home

I saw this charming home in the latest issue of Mad & Bolig - and love how the couple has transformed this old car repair shop into a charming home - filled with thrift finds and nice details.

Bedroom Inspiration

Ha ha - let´s see how the search engines react to this title! Well the thing is that our bedroom needs some love when it comes to the interior design, so I created this moodboard for the new look. Right now it´s all white and clean - and only decorated by the big world map with lots of blue and brown tones. I wish to add more softness and darker colours to the room and still like the colour combo of brown and turquoise -I´m also wondering if we should paint one wall in a dark chocolate brown, or gold or wallpaper it. Any suggestions anyone?

Hi Santa - it´s me again

Dear Santa - if you are really busy and only want to pick up presents from one place - then please choose stuff from By Nord - because I love everything in their collection.
Here´s a recent interview in Danish with the women behind the brand.

Dear Santa...

Dear Santa - this cosy Lugo sofa by BoConcept is the answer to a lot of my wishes! I wish to lay there with books & magazines, warm blankets & tons of pillows plus my family - in front of a fireplace or a good movie...
If it´s to large to transport then these pillows will do - thank you.

Short december

We actually started to decorate for Christmas 2 weeks ago - because Nanna couldn´t wait any longer... and since we are leaving for Thailand in 2 weeks time - I guess it´s ok with an early start. I´m not really in the mood for decorating a lot this year - so it´s mainly little things like these branches and birds you´ll find in our home.

lumimarja - finnish snowberries

I´m quite smitten with the Lumimarja pattern - since I saw it in a shop this weekend - and I thought it was a perfect match to my photo below. The patterne comes in various colours and is designed by finnish designer Erja Hirvi, for Marimekko.

Pink Houses

I normally never post anything here without credits - but in this case I´m lost - just think I saw these amazing photo collages of houses last year at Oh Joy. Please help me out if you can.

Just found out that they are by photographer and artists Laura Kicey.

Trendy trees

I spotting a trend here - with big branches used as interior decorations - I guess it´s not a new thing - but in these photos from Sandbox Studio - and Tine K - they have got it just right!

Yesterday a huge man on a bike crashed into Nanna and I on our way to kindergarden - my bike now needs a new backwheel and my bruised and shocked body really needs the long and luxurious treament at this Spa , which was booked weeks ago - I guess that´s what you call perfect timing!

pretty book covers

I saw these amazing bookcovers by design student Michael Kosmicki at Poppytalk yesterday. And I immediately wanted to make something similar for all our books at home. Well maybe not all of them - but for those we keep around like our huge collection of Lonely Planet guidebooks.

I´m always in doubt when it comes to storing books - I´m both drawn to having a big library wall at home - but also to the Feng-shui concept of letting go of books that you´ve already read and won´t read again - so that they don´t take up "space" for new books and new knowledge.

Well here´s a blog dedicated to bookshelves, bookcases and things that look like them.

Love your home

I´ve been waiting for this book to be published - it´s titled Elsk dit hjem -Love your home -and looks amazing and inspiring - with tons of tips and beautiful photos on how to create the perfect home for you! - you can have a look here.

It´s written in Danish by Feng Shui expert Ranvita la Cour - and I plan to find my own copy today - because our apartment needs a little love before the "indoor-season" starts. I love the way Ranvita writes and thinks about interior design - and Sabine has done a great job designing the book!
p.s just got my copy of the book and it´s truely wonderful.

My favorite things

The lovely and always inspiring Holly from Decor8 asked me to guestblog - while she is busy moving to Germany - what an honour! Holly has asked co-bloggers to share 5 of their favorite things in their home. My favorite things in my home will be shared one of the next days on Decor8 - I´ll let you know. But to be honest my favorite home right now is our summerhouse where we spend 3 wonderful and relaxing weeks in July. So as a little extra feature I´ve put together my 5 favorite things from our summerhouse also.
  1. My new Baby Deer pillow by Sharon Montrose -
and the 2 little baby deer outside the summerhouse.
  2. Picking and arranging wild flowers.
  3. That the weather was perfect for painting the house black and white (instead of white & blue).
  4. Making my own ceramic bowls at a workshop with a local ceramist (both Nanna & I was very pleased with our results)
  5. Simple living and doors wide open to the outside.

Favorite colour combo

This is one of my favorite colour combinations right now - brown and turquise. The images are from the new Day Home collection and the lastest issue of Boligliv (which has a great new website/blog) - the images are from the home of talented danish ceramist Susan Liebe.
Have a sunny weekend!

Summer Holiday

I´m busy at the studio with the last deadlines before our holiday next week. And after 2 weeks of wonderful weather I´m more than ready to kick back and enjoy the summer here in Denmark. I´m leaving you with these interiors from some Swedish summerhouses from Skona Hem and I wish you all a wonderful summer - I´ll be back in August.

Pillows for my nieces

This weekend we celebrated the christening of my sister´s babygirl Anna. My present was a pillow from Tulipaner & Tomater with Anna´s name on it - and with a piece of fabric from one of Nanna´s old dresses incorporated (the graphic flowers off course). The other pillow on the photo is for her sister (for her birthday). I ordered two matching pillows since the girls will probably end up sharing a room one day. You can see them both here.

And since "I had hired a pro" to do the sewing - I had time to create a little collage owl to match the pillow - so please notice how some fabric from the pillow is repeated on the owl´s wings - clever right!?

I´m glad my sister had reminded me that she would like an owl for the nursery - because I tend to forget that they actually make a great present - and instead I run out and buy some soft baby stuff. Anyway more owls are on their way to my shop soon.

spring ideas

I have saved these images from a house tour on Designsponge by interior designer Jessica Helgersen for some time now - both because I love the interior - but also as a reminder to pick some fresh green branches to use inside the house. Maybe this inspires you too.

rina menardi

Ever since I came back from Ambiente in Frankfurt some months ago - I´ve been dying to share this Italian master with you, Rina Menardi. Her stand at Ambiente was like a little heaven of colors, shapes and craftmanship - and now that her new website is up and running it´s time to share. Go and see her wonderful collections which are a fusion of art, design and craftsmanship. And off course it´s all on my wishlist!
