face recognition

Here´s some fun for your weekend! MyHeritage's face recognition compares facial traits in user-uploaded photos and spits out a chart of celebrity matches with whom you bear resemblance. Who would have known!

antony and the johnsons

Had a wonderfull experience yesterday in the company of Antony and the Johnsons, who performed a intimate and excellent concert here in Århus and their CD will be played non stop in my office today... Have a great weekend! Artwork by photographer Nick Knight

nume - italian goodies

Just fell in love with this Build-it-yourself playhouse made of white cardboard that Nanna and I could easily decorate and customize. Made by nume that produce great stuff - and found through polkadot, one of my new favorite blogs because it combines my passion for design, blogging and the Italian language.

Here is another cardboard house option from kidsonroof

welcome september

I welcome September - one of my favorite months. This September will be full of transformations - big and small - inside and outside. I´m so into Simple Living right now and have started to clear all my clutter again! I´m also getting some coaching, have had my hair cut short - and finally I´m joining the Gym! I´ll post some before and after photos of all my projects here. The pictures above are all from Trendkompagniet.

handmade pretties

Seeing these handmade pretties makes me long for Autumm, because for me it´s the season of craft, candles and feeling cosy - and I have so much more energy when the weather is cold - not rainy - but crisp and fresh!

urban outfitters

Great news that Urban Outfitters now ships to Europe via ther English site - and that that they have their first store opening in Copenhagen this fall.

Crafts Market at Copenhagen

If you are anywhere near Copenhagen from 17th - 19th of August - this is the place to be. The Crafts Markets is an annual event arranged by the Danish Arts and Crafts association. 125 members/crafters are presented at Frue Plads - a lovely square in the center of Copenhagen. Love the bags by Signe Lybeck.
P.S At the website click on udstillere to explore the crafters involved.

sunflowers

From Wooster Collective today "did these sunflowers for an installation up at cirque du soleil here in Montreal. The idea is that they move from east to west i.e. they follow the sun". Roadsworth
I wish someone would do the same to the streets of Århus - how wonderfull to rollerblade on sunflowers.

Queen of cards - and mugs!

I saw a lot of Swedish designer Hanna Wernings cards yesterday at Formland, and she is truely the queen of cards! There was so much other great stuff on her website too - like this mug. And off course she has designed wallpaper too.

not for sale!

My blog is worth $2,258.16.
How much is your blog worth?

So this is the value of my blog but it´s not for sale because to me it´s much more precious than that. I really enjoy sharing and posting here, and to have a place to put all the stuff I find and dig on the Internet, instead of having 1000000 bookmarks in my favorites folder. Digital scrapbooking rules!

kragh & rosenberg

Yesterday Designsponge wrote about Kragh Rosenberg´s autumm Home collection, but I think that their childrens collection deserves some words too - it´s just great and I can´t wait to see it for real at Formland this weekend. Since this is a blog about things I like - and what makes me happy, I will not comment on todays news of the disrupted terror plot - just say MAKE PEACE NOT WAR and that my plans for tonight are Sushi and Coaching!

Rockin’ Sock Monkey

This guy just made my day - can´t belive how cool this sock monkey is. I saw him here

my first patterns

Time to show some of my own designs - this is what has kept me busy this weekend. I designed these patterns/illustrations for some postcards I´m having printed to send out to my clients at Spagat. It´s all done in Indesign and Illustrator - and I had so much fun doing them, and think you will see more patterns from me soon. Please let me know what you think - and make sure to visit Aunty Cookie who has made some great patterns, and has a crazy dog. Reading her post always makes me laugh and wish I was writing in my motherlanguage - not that I would be half as funny as she is.
p.s Nanna is fine again

broste copenhagen

More on danish design, Broste Copenhagen is a Danish family owned home furnishing company. Twice a year their inhouse team of creative designers launches a new collection. This new autumm collection - Living, inspired by Morocco, has one of my favorite colour combinations, browns and greenish-blue.

Ron Mueck

Ron Mueck is an amazing artist - and we are lucky to have his Boy sculpture at the Aros Art museum here in Århus. Some of his amazing photorealistic sculptures are part of a major exhibition at the National Gallery of Scotland right now. See photos on the NGS site, Google; or read a good article on his process. And have a lovely weekend.
I´ll be back on monday! Nanna has pneumonia and I have loads of design work to take care off also...

magical laundry labels - SD

More kids stuff - this time from Sweden, where Pia Eriksson, has designed The Thilde Pillow. When her daugther, Thilde, got her first cuddly toy the first thing that brought her attention was the laundry label !. Her daughter sucked, bit, and carefully studied these magical labels, and that was when the idea of "The Thilde Pillow" was born. I think it´s a great product design - cut the crap and the fluffy bunny and give kids more of what they really want - MAGICAL LAUNDRY LABELs RULE!

franck & fischer - DD

The underlying aim for Franck & Fischer is to create a unique design for children and the home, inspired by tradition but with the expression of a modern and creative design. The products are characterized by simplicity and a subtle humour and the quality in production has high priority. I especially like their kids items - so nice to see something for kids that isn´t pink or rosa!

sen-sen

Sen-Sen is based here in Århus, and the duo have been my favorite textile designers since I got this pillow 5 years ago. I love their use of colour and the quality of their fabrics, unfortunately their website is only in Danish but check out their Living collection anyway.

n.e.e.t Magazine

Just discovered this wonderfull grassroot magazine N.E.E.T. The brainchild behind it is UK based Stephanie J, and everything in the magazine is handpicked, designed and organised by her. N.E.E.T. began in December 2005 as a quarterly, online publication, laid out in a magazine format. It has direct links to homepages of the items, illustrations and photos shown and could be a great way for all you creative crafters to publish your work. Venus Magazine, March 2006: "N.E.E.T. is highly addictive.. you'll think you've stumbled upon NYLON's funkier, thrift-store chic little sister."

29 July 2006

health-givings

I was eating soooo much wholesome food in Thailand and I´m trying to do the same back home - look what excellent and yummy designs I got at the market today...

danefæ

The people behind Danefae, creates cool fashion with retro graphics inspired by friendly Danish stereotypes, such as vikings, little mermaids and herings - for tourist and residents. Their logo is so ugly that it must be meant as a joke - but somehow it works out because they carry out the retro style all the way.

ferm wallpaper

More wallpaper again - I know - but I love the concept, the logo, the website and the name, ferm means clever/skilled in danish. ferm WALLPAPER originates from the graphic design agency, ferm, run by Trine Andersen. The first collection was launched in February 2006. The next Formland Fair is coming up from11-14 of August. It´s Scandinavia's largest Home Accessory and Gift Fair and I´ve decided to focus for the next weeks on some of my favorite Danish Designers that can be found there.

roommate - living with kids

Danish design duo RoomMate, alias Christine Schwarzer and Anne Birgitte Balle, has created an innovative product line for children. The focus point is to create positive and stimulating settings for creative children's play. I heart their beanbag FatCat, and their new and very graphical dolls, Roomies. ( can only be found under the danish menu)

Singapore

Here´s a glimpse of Singapore, we loved the Zoo, the Botanical Garden, Little India and the Kinokuniya Bookstore, which Imelda had recommended to me.

25 July 2006

more wallpaper -the collection

The Collection is a boutique that pushes luxury wall coverings closer to art. Wallpapers are hand-screened, embroidered and hand-coloured. One long, narrow piece shows huge piles of paperback novels another features a floor to ceiling stack of plates. I have a real stack of books in my livingroom, while we wait for the perfect storage solutions - any advice?

24 July 2006

back from Thailand

I´m back after a wonderfull holiday - and everything seems a bit blurred right now due to jetlag and travelling from one part of the world to another. I took more than 500 photos and will be sharing some of them with you soon.

summerholiday and wanderlust

I´m going to Singapore and Thailand for a 3-weeks holiday tomorrow, so this is my last post for some time. I leave you with this collage by Troy M. Litten. I plan to take tons of photos with my digital camera and found his book Wanderlust very inspiring! I Wish you all a great summer!
