Wishing for...

I´m wishing for spring now - eventhough I enjoy working from home due to all the snow and the low temperatures at the studio. Today my little shy assistent drew this wishlist for her upcoming 6-years birthday - and as a surprise to her (and a help to our guest) I turned her drawing into real photos. Nothing pink - and no mice please!

Working from home

I´ve been working from home the last couple of days - and enjoy my view from the dinner table and the company of my little creative assistent now and then... she is already quite clever when it comes to working in Illustrator - but also a little messy and she talks a lot - so next week I´ll be back in my studio.

If you look at the second photo you can see the artwork I posted about here - we got it as a wedding present this summer - love it.

I´m going to Copenhagen on saturday to meet up with a lot of Danish bloggers - and I´m sooooo looking forward to this.

Bedroom Inspiration

Ha ha - let´s see how the search engines react to this title! Well the thing is that our bedroom needs some love when it comes to the interior design, so I created this moodboard for the new look. Right now it´s all white and clean - and only decorated by the big world map with lots of blue and brown tones. I wish to add more softness and darker colours to the room and still like the colour combo of brown and turquoise -I´m also wondering if we should paint one wall in a dark chocolate brown, or gold or wallpaper it. Any suggestions anyone?

I could not resist

Last night I went to the opening of Kunst for Alle, here in Århus - to say hi to my studiomate Line. I fell in love with this collage by Marianne Markvad - and quickly convinced myself that I needed a present. (I´m really good at that ). So now it has a new home in my dinning room - Love it!

Short december

We actually started to decorate for Christmas 2 weeks ago - because Nanna couldn´t wait any longer... and since we are leaving for Thailand in 2 weeks time - I guess it´s ok with an early start. I´m not really in the mood for decorating a lot this year - so it´s mainly little things like these branches and birds you´ll find in our home.

Love your home

I´ve been waiting for this book to be published - it´s titled Elsk dit hjem -Love your home -and looks amazing and inspiring - with tons of tips and beautiful photos on how to create the perfect home for you! - you can have a look here.

It´s written in Danish by Feng Shui expert Ranvita la Cour - and I plan to find my own copy today - because our apartment needs a little love before the "indoor-season" starts. I love the way Ranvita writes and thinks about interior design - and Sabine has done a great job designing the book!
p.s just got my copy of the book and it´s truely wonderful.

My favorite things

The lovely and always inspiring Holly from Decor8 asked me to guestblog - while she is busy moving to Germany - what an honour! Holly has asked co-bloggers to share 5 of their favorite things in their home. My favorite things in my home will be shared one of the next days on Decor8 - I´ll let you know. But to be honest my favorite home right now is our summerhouse where we spend 3 wonderful and relaxing weeks in July. So as a little extra feature I´ve put together my 5 favorite things from our summerhouse also.
  1. My new Baby Deer pillow by Sharon Montrose -
and the 2 little baby deer outside the summerhouse.
  2. Picking and arranging wild flowers.
  3. That the weather was perfect for painting the house black and white (instead of white & blue).
  4. Making my own ceramic bowls at a workshop with a local ceramist (both Nanna & I was very pleased with our results)
  5. Simple living and doors wide open to the outside.

repeat pattern

I made the logo above for a client/crafter with a cute shop named Tulipaner & Tomater, Tulips & tomates. And today I turned the logo into a repeat pattern while I kept saying to myself "the guides and grids are my friends." phew! The design is now uploaded to Spoonflower - and I´m sooo excited to see the pattern printed on fabric - and turned into little projects like the pillow below made for my daughter by Tulipaner & Tomater.

Display me

I found this acrylic kabinet by Hay - during their sale - and it´s now my new favorite item at home. It´s perfect for displaying personal favorites like seahorses and shells from Thailand.

Add red - stuff

Well I did some more research at home - because with a girl in the house there´s gotta be some red stuff - so look what I found in Nanna´s room today. I was inspired by this collage by Etsy seller A view to. And I´ll add it to Camilla´s Organized Collections Set on Flickr.

If you want more red - please have a look at this amazing set of pictures from the celebration of the Chinese New Year around the world on 26th of january - celebrating the year of the OX - the sign representing solemn hard work and prosperity!

Add red - interiors 2

YES - I just checked again - there´s nothing red in my home apart from a box and the toy kitchen - so I´m posting some more interiors with different amounts of red for inspiration! All from the latest flash-issue of Boligliv, BoBedre, Rum and Living Etc.

Add red - Interiors

There´s no red stuff in my home - apart from my daughers toy kitchen. But I really like the little touch of red in all these interiors from Desire to Inspire and the artwork by Trine Lund in the first picture. How red is your home?

P.s My sister gave birth to a healthy baby girl this morning & I´m so happy!

A little more Christmas

so here´s a glimpse of some of our decorations at home. As you can tell I just love snowflakes so off course I have to mention this snowflake design project by one of my favorite designers Marian Bantjes. We are busy packing - but I´ll be back tomorrow to say Goodbye and Happy Holidays.

Norwegian Cones

I´m also inspired by these lovely cones, made by the Jeanette, from the Norwegian blog Fryd+Design, which I´ve recently added to my blogroll. I think she did a great job and love her photos too. I´m actually half-norwegian - which explains my crazy last name which no one can spell or pronounce - and in case you wonder my first name is danish/norwegian and pronounced like the english word "Sizzle".

Cones inspiration

We have so many cones around our summerhouse - so last year I was looking for some ideas about how to decorate with cones and I couldn´t find any I liked. This year however I spot pretty cone-decorations everywhere - these above are from Rum and Bobedre.
I know it´s early for Christmas stuff - but I´ve got my hands full of christmas projects already - and the first Christmas market coming up this weekend at Bredallund near Vejle.

My pink painting

My last post for Pink October - is about my favorite artist and my favorite painting by Søren Benhcke. I wrote about how much I wanted it here - 11 months ago - and then again here for Bloesem´s World Tour, saying "Inside my dinning room you will see this painting by Søren Benhcke, called Team Amour, from 2007, which I bought in the beginning of this year – it was love at first sight and I just had to own it eventhough I had never spend that much before on one single piece…"

Right now the painting is part of a solo-exhibition at our local art museum Aros - and if you live near Århus I highly recommend that you go and see his exhibition, CANDLE WITH HARE – in the West Gallery, 18. october – 07.december 2008.

Well right now the wall in our dinning room is a little bare - it´s amazing how much energy a painting can give to a room - and we all miss it. But I´m also extremely proud and happy to be able to share it with a larger audience. The painting means a lot to me on many levels -and I can only recommend to by art with your heart! - and share it. Also I wish to say that I bought it with my hard-earned money - not as an investment - simply because I had to own it. I also wish to say that our dinning room is only this clean and organized when a pro-photosession is beeing done...
Have a great weekend!

Adopt an Owl

A few weeks ago we had a visit from a professional photographer in our home and in the studio - and this is one of the only results I can share - since the shoot is not published yet. I did the styling - and I´m very pleased with how my little owl collage looks in my home - but I would be even more pleased if I could find a new home for it -my shop is always open you know!

Silicone Planters

I´m back after a very relaxing holiday on Mallorca and ready to continue my Pink Month here with these Silicone Planters by the american artist Paula Hayes. They will be perfect for my ( and any) future garden and have been on my wishlist for quite a while now.
