Enjoy!

I´m having a blog-break - and a holiday - full of rest, long summernights, time in a hammock, eating berries fresh from the farm, watching clouds passing by. And enjoying the summer flowers and butterflies - just like my little friend The Mole above and here. Hope you will have a great July too - I´ll see you in August.

My final superheroes

I finished my GRIB-challenge last friday - so here is my superhero - Super Sofie. I had a lot of fun putting together my inspirationboard above and creating this new character. The final artwork is presented as a bookcover as you can see - and a friend made a wonderful rhyme for the cover based on my ideas. So all I need now is to work on the stories, the illustrations and find a publisher...as if I didn´t have enough project going on already... but first of all I need some rest and a holiday.

Superhero process in progress

I hoped this fairy would wave her magic wand over me this weekend - so I could draw exactly what was in my head - I draw way too little these days and I´m a bit rough around the edges - but here are some sketches for my little super hero - Super Soffie!

pressed flowers

Here´s our weekend projects. Nanna and I have been collecting and pressing flowers at the summerhouse since spring - and I finally found a way to frame them - between 2 pieces of glas - simple and pretty. And our new Caravaggio lamp by Cecilie Manz have been hung. Hope you had a lovely weekend too.

Cool Girl Inspiration

Here´s my mood board for the Super Girl I´m about to create for the Grib.2 challenge. The target group is girls from 4-6 years and so far she is strong like Pippi - saves the world like Barbapapa - and is as cool as Lauren Childs figures - and she can see colours not visible to the human eye. The world needs a new and fresh superhero - so dear readers please leave a comment and tell me what qualities, superpowers and gadgets my little hero should have!

2xblogger

Last years Grib!-project was a big success - so we decided to enlarge the group, get a bit more organized and just continue to have fun and network in the same way. So from today and 2 weeks forward I´ll be blogging in Danish about my creative process at the GRIB!2 blog. My challenge this year is Superheroes - and I´ve already done some research as you can tell above - I would really love to create a new Pippi-figure - but I can´t draw cartoons or charaters - so we will see how I get along.
You can read more about Grib! here - and see the final show here.

Pillows by Plankdesign

Danish textile designer Mai Plank behind Plankdesign has´s just launched her first collection of cushions in various sizes and colour combinations and coffee- and tea cosies. I really like her fresh colour combinations with a touch of retro - and think they fit the trend right now so well.

dreamy retreat

Here´s my other entry for the Amy Butler mood board contest - called Dreamy Retreat. It´s inspired by an image I got during a workshop where I had to vizualize myself as a millionaire - and this is pretty much what I saw... now I am just curious to find out how and when I will end up there....

on my desk

It´s always funny to discover where you inspiration came from - I guess it´s pretty clear now that my desk last week inspired my choice of colors for the Simple LivingRoom moodboard - but I only just noticed it today when I saw this photo! The meringue was delicious and so is my owl print from Etsy-seller YumiYumi!

found hearts

I found a lot of hearts on the ground today - they would have been perfect for Pia Jane Bijkerks project, My Heart Wanders - but the deadline was June 15th - so now I just wonder who the big heartbreaker was! I also wonder why I´m so attracted to pink and rosa at the moment - I even had a pink meringue with my coffee today!

Ice Cream Cloud Plant Heaven

I find these original drawings of gouache on paper by Betsy Walton so fresh and inspiring that I keep going back to The Shiny Squirrel to look at them and check if they are still there - so I thought I might as well stick them on my blog instead and dream on about Ice Cream Cloud Plant Heaven which is the title of the bottom one.

Flowers in every room

To celebrate that things were back to normal this weekend, I decided to buy a huge bunch of Peonies. Fiori in ogni stanza! as they say in Italian - meaning decorate every room with flowers! implying that someone important is coming to visit... and that´s just what I did - decorated every room with flowers and yes the important persons was the 3 of us!

Back to normal

Today things are back to normal again - after one month without Kindergarten due to the strike - so no more stress and organizing where to play and who to look after who, no more trips to various museums, jumping in the trampoline and eating icecream everyday - but hopefully we will continue to have little guest in the studio - painting little masterpieces - and proudly sharing them afterwards - there has been quite a production going on here and the smiles on their little faces afterwards has been so rewarding. Our flat is also back to normal now - 6 weeks after the water damage - and we now have newly painted walls and a lovely new wooden floor - you see I´m practicing to focus on the good things and not give energy to things you can´t change anyway - and all this has been a good lesson and opportunity to practice this skill .)

pretty flowers without pollen

It´s hay fever season here and like last year I´ve become a Hayfever Zombie... so these flowers by danish illustrator Toril Bækmark are safe and great to look at right now and too delicate not to share. I used Toril for a annual report years ago and enjoy to watch her portfolio grow and can highly recommend her work.

a glimpse of Budapest

Here´s a glimpse of our trip to Budapest - we had such a great time - great company - lovely weather, a beautiful city and a wonderfull hotel - what more can you ask? - well surely we could have done without 6 hours of waiting in the airport - due to a delayed flight and loosing our connecting flight - but I´m almost back to normal now after a long trainride home at night - and our flat is also almost back to normal - so now we just really need the kindergarten teachers to go back to work - please!!

Budapest

I´m off to Budapest tomorrow with a group of 12 fun and crazy women - so I´ve been detoxing for the last 2 weeks - ( no wheat and sugar) to get in shape for Spa-treatments and too many drinks and cigarettes - hope you will have a fun weekend too... - see you next week.

Afternoon in Aarhus

My post about Aarhus is featured on Bloesems World Tour today - so Friday afternoon I took some snapshots on the way home from my studio to our flat - to give you a little glimpse of "the Latin Quarter" which is my beloved neighborhood. Enjoy - and welcome to my blog and my city.

Bloesen world tour in Aarhus

Last month I put together 2 posts about my favorite spot - and my favorite artist here in Aarhus, Denmark - for Bloesem´s wonderful world tour - and you can find them real soon at Bloesem´s blog. Hope you will enjoy them! - and a big thanks to lovely Irene for inviting me to be part of her world tour - it´s such a great idea and I´ve enjoyed visiting all the places so far. Other favorites of mine - are the spots we put up on the wall in the studio - it´s such a great and easy way to add a little colour - and please try this at home! We just painted some paper with acrylics, cut the circles out and stuck them on the wall with spray-glue. Happy weekend!

Bambi-drama

I´m a citygirl - but for the last 3 weeks now we have been staying in our summerhouse due to the water leak in our apartment - and 2 nights ago we experienced some full-on-countryside -action! The area around the summerhouse is full of deer - and right now they have little Bambi-fawns. I have always wanted to see a fawn - so when we suddenly saw 2 deers and a tiny fawn outside the house I couldn´t believe my luck - I lifted my daughter up to show her the bambi - a true Kodak-moment! - and then seconds after the deers went nuts and started screaming/barking and tried to attack a huge fox that came out of nowhere and grabbed the fawn, standing between it´s mothers legs - and ran of with it - OMG!!!! - it was like something from National Geographics and the screams from the mother and the other deer was just so heartbreaking! We could hear them calling/barking for hours afterwards and so for the last 2 evenings I´ve been sneaking around the area like some kind of Pochahontas in search of the fawn! I haven´t found it yet - but saw a huge badger while searching - and I think our trip to Copenhagen this weekend will do me good - since Country living is too action packed right now!

To get the experience out of my system I created this collage yesterday - using images from Etsy - I hope the sellers don´t mind and their products are great so have a look here.

Enfant terrible

Just stopped by Enfant Terrible via Bloesem - and fell in love with the birdhouses by Tamar Morgendorff and the wallpaper birds and tree by Inke. Here in our city the streets are full of all kinds of children - both terrible and well-behaved with their grandparents since the Kindergarten teachers are on strike - and all the parents are pretty stressed out not knowing how long this strike will last...

I like

All clothes from my favorite webshop Youheshe.com - t-shirt with print by Stine Goya.

the colour yellow

2 weeks ago we had a big water damage in our apartment - and relocated to our summerhouse right away - due to a foul smell and all the repairs going on. Luckily we rent the apartment and the weather has been perfect for some countryside living. Each day we pass these yellow rapeseed fields - and I believe you can't find a more pure yellow than this - the photos don´t do the colour or the smell justice - nor the sound of the tree cousins playing in the bunk beds.

Inside & Outside the studio

Here´s some fresh photos from the studio - outside the appletrees are in full bloom now - and inside my inspiration board looks like this - and collages are in the making. Have a great weekend!
